projects at the presidio of san francisco- a national park site

Since there was a five-year waiting list for garden beds at the Fort Scott Community Garden (the historic and main garden re-created in 1998), I eventually built community gardens in 9 neighborhoods of the Presidio with over 200 raised beds in total. This allowed more residents to participate in the community garden program and fostered community building among neighbors. Each garden required hours of volunteer maintenance such as weeding and mulching pathways, tending communal herb gardens, and maintaining picnic tables and benches. This level of detailed experience informs my design decisions- making sure that gardens are built with an eye to long-term success.
